Whale watching and Northern lights

Aurora Borealis in Vik í Mýrdal.

We offer combination of whale watching and Northern Light voyage. On clear winter nights, the ideal location for sightings is from the sea, away from the light-pollution of the capital. The Aurora Borealis, the lights of the northern hemisphere, means ‘dawn of the north’, more commonly referred to as the Northern Lights. This is a natural phenomenon created when particles emitted by the sun interact with the atmosphere in the Earth’s magnetic field. This releases energy, causing peculiar luminous colourful streaks across the skies. There are no guarantees that you will see the Northern Lights during your stay, but in most cases, sightings are immediately improved outside populated areas, especially from the sea. The voyage takes 4-5 hours, a light meel is offered. Contact us
